What to Expect After You WIN Social Security Disability
As I discuss in this video, as a general rule you should see a deposit into your bank account within 4 to 6 weeks after you receive a favorable decision from the judge, or a notice of approval from Social Security.
However, there are circumstances that can cause a delay in this timeframe.
Perhaps the most common complication involves cases where a claimant has filed for both SSDI and SSI. SSI, as you may know, is a “means tested” program that is only available to claimants who have very limited assets and very limited to no household income.
If your case includes an SSI claim the SSI payment center has to conduct an “income and resource” interview to determine whether you qualify for SSI. Yo...

Can I Work While Waiting for a Decision in My Social Security Disability Case?

In order to win disability benefits from Social Security, you have to prove that your medical issues prevent you from working. So how is it even possible that you could consider working, even part time. The answer, as I discuss in this video, has to do with how Social Security defines work, or more accurately, how it defines "substantial gainful activity." (SGA) Part time work below a certain t...

I watched this video a year ago. Not too long after I started the appeals process for an ALJ hearing. Well, I finally got a hearing date a little over a year later. Then I was told it was postponed or cancelled. They said they sent me a notice but my attorney hasn't heard anything and neither have I, in almost a month. I already waived my 75 day notice for my phone hearing and the ALJ cancelled or postponed the hearing 3 months before it was even supposed to be heard. At Step 3 of the appeals process. The only thing I can think of is. Is that I'm another year older 49. I've been diagnosed with 2 other impairments cardiovascular insufficiency, peripheral artery disease and rheumatoid arthritis in the last year and half. I've been being treated for over 12 months for both along with my back and neck surgeries and updated MRIs. Showing my back and neck have only gotten worse since my last surgery in 2022. I was also diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel, during my wait and need surgery. I have EMGS, MRIs, Dopler, Ultrasounds with Dr notes. The MRIs are only 2 months old. Lumbar spinal stenosis with nerve impingement and DDD. Cervical DDD and arthritis disc bulge 2 levels. I've already had a neck surgery in 2007 and lumbar surgery in 2012, and 2022. I was diagnosed with chronic pain syndrome and being treated by a pain management Dr, rheumatologist, orthopedic Dr and vascular Dr. Im holding off on another back and neck surgery. I'm tired of getting cut open. My attorney told me to wait for the notice to come in the mail or my portal and seems to not to understand what is going on. Personally, I don't think he's familiar with my case and the amount of objective evidence I've sent to his office in the last year and half. I've spoken to him 3 times in a little over 3 years. My case has already been transferred out of state due to backlog and now it's been postponed or cancelled. My patients is running thin. Thank you for all you do

An attorney, an SSA rep, and a rep from the company that helped me win all keep saying I have nothing to worry about, but I don’t believe it. Those folks may not know what they are talking about. They are just blowing smoke, perhaps. My head is on the chopping block and I wish they would just lower the boom. Ciao and be good! Emily

I am 60, with Small-Cell Carcinoma of the Lungs...I was diagnosed in March and I have had my Lymph nodes to my right side removed which inadvertently resulted in my nerve bundle being cut from my neck and shoulder. It feels like a Sunburn constantly. I am still currently undergoing Immunotherapy, having completed 4 cycles of Chemo. I am exhausted, including 3 Inpatient stays, each extending over a week at a time. Currently I am getting over Neutropenia (fluid in the lungs), and several secondary infections, and I am anemic. I do self Transfusions through my port twice daily, and so I have had a lead placed onto the port now for over two weeks. My Symptoms are terrible, and yet, Social Security has denied me any benefits from my past work history. What good was it to contribute, to wait until I Retire? How absurd. Now I have to appeal and beg! They didn't even help me apply for SNAP (Food Stamps). Some Foreign person with a thick accent was my interviewer! Thanks for nothing SSA, I am sure the Illegal Migrants aren't complaining!

I got my survivors retirement benefits cancelled due to missed paperwork. I went into social security and the caseworker turned back on and filled and expedition letter. The lady claimed the final determination will take three months. She lastly confirmed while it might get denied more than likely I won’t be denied. I’ve been on ssdi for twenty one years. Attorneys tell me I have to be denied, totally, after the reinstatement in order to even take my case . What do I do?
